flar,
You've created a wonderful documentary record of present day Hamilton.
I hope your images find their way into a reliable archive so that they will be available to the likes of "Urban Toronto" many years hence.
Which prompts me to ask: How long is the digital archive we're looking at now expected to last?
Does anyone know if all these exceptional images of Toronto, Hamilton, etc. are intended for long-term preservation?
My guess is that the Internet is still in its infancy and the real answer is unknown.

I agree, the long term answer is unknown. I try to back up my own files, but it's a larger question for our society. We have so many digital files that could be lost over time due to detoriation or physical damage. But the larger problem is formats. Will computers of the far off future be able to read certain types of files (especially closed formats)? Will future generations even be able to read the media containing the files? Think of what a hassle it is today to read a 5.25" floppy, let alone a cassette tape or punch cards. Someday the same problem will exist for CDs, DVDs, USB and various types of hard disks.
