HARD ROCK IS ON ITS WAY!

In partnership with Rideau Carleton Casino, revised renovations have begun for the development of a unique and dynamic destination that will re-energize Ottawa’s entertainment scene. As part of the service agreement with Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG), Hard Rock International took over the day-to-day operations of Rideau Carleton Casino in September 2017. With updated construction plans and timelines finalized, we have now embarked on a $350 million construction project, one of the largest private investment developments currently in Ottawa.

*The site will feature a six storey, 150-room Hard Rock Hotel with 22 suites and retail shops, as well as seven restaurants and three bar and lounge areas, including the company’s Hard Rock Cafe, a Council Oak Steakhouse, and a YouYu Noodle Bar.

*The new 24-7 gaming floor will have 1,500 slots, 40 live action table games, a baccarat room, and a sportsbook for variety gaming captions. It will also include a high-limit area with a lounge for VIP guests.

*The new 1,800-seat Hard Rock Live theatre will host concerts, comedy shows and dance performances by locally and internationally known artists to the city.

Still don't understand how this wasn't put in a lot like Bayview Yards. The city fumbled this so hard lol.
The story went a little something like this:

The citizens, business community, and council: We should have competing bids and put the casino license in the best spot possible

King Watson: Lol, no...

The end

Was going to say, looks like your average Suburban Holiday Inn... Not sure they'll get the ROI they're looking for. I know that I, and anyone I know, who visits a casino once a year will continue to do so at Lac Leamy for the forseable future and this redevelopment won't change much of that.

It's honestly kind of sad. This thing looks like it only exists to feed gambling addiction, it's not offering any other benefits to the community and the city at large. In my opinion, a casino should pay back a bit chunk of what it takes by being a tourist attraction, a real destination. That 1800 seat theatre is great and all, but it is down a dark unlit narrow country road with deep ditches instead of somewhere central and with mass transit access.
