recession proof
It was a hot day today (24 May 2008) and the streets were quiet--are all the wealthy upper beach residents at the cottage? But I'd never walked this entire strip before, and as I found myself in the Beach proper, ended up walking up Fallingbrook Rd to Kingston Rd, then walking back down to Queen Street East. People diss the suburbs for being pedestrian-free zones--I swear I was the only person on foot on all the residential streets I walked down, and even for stretches of Kingston Road! Rich SUV drivers/residents looked at me suspiciously--why would I be taking photos of your house? So, yeah, much of Toronto is just one big suburb lucky enough to have been built pre-WW2.
So here we are, looking at the north east corner of Kingston and Fallingbrook.

Queen St East at last--how much longer before this strip plaza bites the condo dust?
Overall, Kingston Road sort of reminds me of West Broadway in Vancouver. There were several surprises--the Cheese shop selling Millbank cheddar (yummy and I never realized Jody's Smoked Meat existed--is it any good? It seemed very dead. Dip 'n Sip Donuts? I've never heard of the place before--looks very cool are they any good? So a first and a last time for me walking Kingston Road? There's plenty of residential streets I've got to explore still--stay tuned for a photo tour....
