As continued from Part IV...

As mentioned at the end of the previous thread, my complete pictures from the Dallas 30th Anniversary Reunion event can be found in the links provided below (a Facebook account isn't required to view them)...

  • Facebook (Part III) (Fair Park, Uptown/West Village, Dallas Theater Ceter, DART, Campbell Centre, Southfork Mobile Home Community, etc.)
  • Facebook (Part IV) (Southfork Mobile Home Community, Southfork Ranch, Dallas Reunion 30 Barbeque, etc.)
  • Facebook (Part V) (Dallas Reunion 30 Barbeque - Southfork gate, red carpet, mansion tour, etc.)
  • Facebook (Part VI) (Dallas Reunion 30 Barbeque [mansion tour, press conference, Dallas Legacy Museum] & Kimbell Art Museum)
I will only include a few mostly non-celebrity pictures here on Urban Toronto...

One of the first things that most people usually comment on when seeing the Southfork mansion for the first time is how small it looks in real life. Indeed, many camera tricks were used in the filming of the series and the mansion was made to look much larger than it actually is in person. Also, all interiors were shot in Culver City, CA on a soundstage and the large interior rooms of the mansion could never fit in what in reality is actually a modest sized mansion.

The event wasn't supposed to begin (for the price we paid anyway) until 5:00pm, but security was very lax and we somehow managed to pretty much go anywhere we'd wanted to go and arrived early at about 3:00pm which worked out well as you'll see if you check the aforementioned Facebook links.

A company called Dirty Car Art had sketched the stars appearing at the reunion into all four sides of the windows on a...dirty car!

These centrepieces for the Dallas Reunion 30 Party (or DR30 as it was being called). Not quite befitting the Oil Barron's Ball, but perfectly fine for a Southfork Barbeque.

The infamous pool. Will someone end up in it by the end of the party?

The rear of the ranch house and a staircase that was never seen during the run of the show.

Most of the original cast (minus Pamea, Cliff and Ray). The pictures were auctioned off for charity later in the evening.

J.R. Ewing's arrival. I was disappointed that there was no "SF" livery on the helicopter though.

We then took a walk down to the famous gate to get some photos of the gate and the house.

The iconic Southfork Ranch gate.

Southfork at dusk.

The crowds began to grow as the cast was set to "officially" appear on the red carpet.

The only cast photo I'll show on here, but most of the reunion attendees are on the balcony on this shot welcoming everyone to the Ewing Barbeque.

The Barbeque! I've heard estimates that up to 4,000 people were in attendance.

Texas-style fun was to be had at the barbeque.

Jock Ewing's famous Lincoln that was featured heavily in the first four seasons of the show.

As predicted, someone ended up in the pool and instantly decided to blame J.R

We hadn't been able to visit the "Dallas" museum earlier in the day as we were too busy hobnobbing around the barbeque, however since we befriended "Sally Southfork" (the General Manager of the Ranch) she actually opened the museum for us at 01:00 in the morning and we got our own private little tour...

Yup, that's the gun that was used to shoot J.R. in the famous 1980 season finale.
DSCN6218A2.jpg

J.R. was actually shot on three separate occasions during the 13 year run of the show.

This was a lot of fun. The complete Dallas Family Tree...

And a parting shot from the Dallas Museum and Southfork. It was quite the day.

Good Southfork reunion pics and tour!

DK416: A tour and reunion of this type was a "Dallas" fan's dream!
Thanks to it being well-written and a good cast the show was very popular back in the late 70s-early 80s era. Cable networks like Soapnet keep "Dallas"
reruns popular and introduce the show to a new generation of fans.
Good stuff! LI MIKE
