Planning a Northeast River Crossing: Information Session
April 5, 2017
Residents are invited to a public information session for the Northeast River Crossing (NERC) Functional Planning Study. This study will identify a potential location for a proposed future roadway and bridge over the North Saskatchewan River, connecting Edmonton and Strathcona County.
There are two identical public information sessions where participants will have an opportunity to learn more about the project, its timeline and to provide input of the study area.
Date: Wednesday, April 19, 2017
Time: 4-8 p.m. (project presentations at 5:30 and 7:00 p.m.)
Location: Bethel Lutheran Church, 298 Bethel Drive, Sherwood Park
Date: Thursday, April 20, 2017
Time: 4-8 p.m. (project presentations at 5:30 and 7:00 p.m.)
Location: Horse Hill School, 19355 Meridian Street NW, Edmonton
This is the first phase in the NERC Functional Planning Study, a joint partnership between the City of Edmonton, the City of Fort Saskatchewan, Strathcona County, Sturgeon County and Alberta Transportation. The proposed bridge would provide an alternate route over the river, connecting Highways 21 and 15 (Manning Drive), improving access to Highway 63 leading north. Construction of the proposed bridge is not expected for another 25 to 35 years.
