The pavilions and Cinesphere are still great and it would be a shame to tear them down. They could just use a good renovation. As for the rest of the place...if you're still going the theme park route, it could use some more permanent rides. Maybe a large-scale roller coaster out over the bay. It could be quite spectacular.

With all the levels of government involved, it's easy to be pessimistic on a rejuvenization of the Ex coupled with this wonderful place. A highly visible and pedestrian connection between the 2 precincts would be a good start. A juiced up amusement park at Ontario Place is an interesting idea. It would make it a fun destination for a lot of people. We have a big car race at the Ex every year, and the CNE and BMO field as well, so the area is already poised as an entertainment district. When I look at that photo of Ontario Place I remember how impressed I was when it opened. Then, I get wistful and think, why can't the place just become a passive global Centre for something or other, associated with a major university, in association with the Federal and Provincial governments. Wistful allright.

Maybe merge Exhibition Place with Ontario Place to create one entity (eg. Canadian National Exhibition @ Ontario Place).
