Galt is a very old town on the Grand River. It was amalgamated with Hespeler and Preston to form the city of Cambridge in 1973.

Beautiful! It’s refreshing to see winter images in July! Galt reminds me a lot of Guelph, just up the road.

Great tour of Galt... probably my favourite small town in Ontario in terms of built form.

Good pictures. Galt is reminiscent of Guelph, and also resembles Paris, a little farther downstream. These are all old "mill towns" with big old mill buildings immediately beside the river, and with a lot of buildings made of stone as opposed to brick.

Nice pics. I recall the downtown being pretty dead when I was there but certainly the old architecture is terrific.

Nice pics, downtown Galt is beautiful, if a little quiet. Too bad most of the rest of Cambridge is so soulless.

It's a hive of activity if compared to Hespeler, which has its own charm but you'd be able to shoot a cannon down the main street (which used to be Highway 24 before a by-pass was built) with confidence you wouldn't hit anyone.

Preston has some charm too, but is also pretty quiet.

haha thats my school, its the university of waterloo school of architecture. lol, But ya galt is really beautiful, but the people who reside here are really sketchy, only place ive been approached at 4am by a guy with one arm trying to sell me cds
