Don’t think there’s a thread for this. MPP Vaughan has announced that the federal Liberals are on board with proposals enshrine the City of Toronto with constitutional protections. Mayor Tory appears cautiously supportive of the initiative as well. Assuming the PC government is removed from office in 2022, we could be on our way to a new constitutional amendment

 
It will be interesting to see how this play out and fits in WRT our Constitution. Charter municipalities are fairly common in the US but if I'm not mistaken it's new ground here. I think the goal of some to have a 'province-in-all-but-name'; however, might be a bridge too far.
 
That could be the closest Toronto could be into being a province.

It would also be interesting if Ottawa and Gatineau were to form a National Capital Region, just like the District of Columbia in the United States.
