I just read the recent Tony Wong article about the agent who is trying to sue the Toronto Real Estate board, claiming they are preventing discount brokerages.
http://www.thestar.com/article/649558

The suit is a farce because there are plenty of discount brokerages! Heck one guy is doing it for flat fees, www.flatfeeanthony.com which is like 2%!

The board kicked the dude out because he was aping the Toronto MLS site. I'm a bit of a noob and didn't hear about this until after it got shut down. Can anyone provide some details or background info? What was the site called? Is there a waybackmachine of it?

Thanks

I hope he wins.

The 4-5% commissions charged are highway robbery. Even 3% is highway robbery.

3% commissions:

$200000 home = $6000
$300000 home = $9000
$500000 home = $15000
$1000000 home = $30000
$1500000 home = $45000

I'd say start with something like 2% capped at $10000.
