Excellent photos--you get a real sense of the size and density of Seoul from those final pics as well as the juxtaposition of dense housing and dense office/apartment complexes with patches of green space in between.

Thanks for sharing, some terrific pics in there! Some of those pictures help capture how huge it is. No panorama could hope to get more than a mere fraction of how huge and vast it is here. The generic apartment buildings you are like blades of grass. The new stock looks much better than those creme colored ones that went up like weeds in the 80's and 90's here. Still would it kill the government to spend a few bucks and differentiate the apartment buildings here?

Seoul is a regular destination for me by now, and like other cities, I tend to enjoy walking the markets to get a feel of the city's vibrancy.

Eating outdoors is quite popular, and there are measures in place to protect against the elements.

I arrived a little too late.

Nearby, the shopping district of Myeongdong is still full of activity.

Seoul's subway network is very extensive. This map shows the line, the interchanges, and I believe also the door numbers that would make line transfers the most efficient.

You can see the location of the next train.

Insadong and the surrounding area were the residences of Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910) officials, extended royal families, and the aristocrats. Away from sight, a toy museum lurks upstairs via an uneventful staircase leading from Insadong's main street.

Those last 5 photos seems to be taken in a history museum...I think they that sort of thing in Japan too of the time before WWII. Those ones in the photos represent very well of S. Korea in the 70s and 60s or even before...which is ironically similar to what North Korea looks like these days. Hmm...

Thanks for sharing the photos... You seemed to stay in Gangbuk(the historic Seoul and old downtown area near Seoul Station and the City Hall). I think you should visit Gangnam next time. That's where Seoul's "new" and "younger" downtown streets seem to be located these days. Gangnam subway station on the green line might lead you to the right place.

Yep, I've been to Gangnam a few times as well.

Noryangjin Fish Market processes a massive volume of the abundant fish and seafood and will overwhelm you. They are transported during the night directly from fishing boats in the East Sea, the Yellow Sea, and the South Sea, as well as from the Pacific Ocean.

The market is easily accessible by subway.

Garak Market is a huge wholesale facility on the south side of town. It is divided into many sections, with each specializing in a different type of product.
