Saw the first one over at SSC. As much of a jaw dropper that it is, Dubai has basically taken over from Shanghai as the 'poster-boy' of up and coming skyscraper projects.

A phrase I think of after looking at the first shot for a second time is how remarkably unremarkable their skyline is.

Ah, nuts to all these modern Asian skylines... it'll always be NYC with its art deco beauties for me.

Impressive skyline, but I think the design of many of those highrises is pretty awful.

I just looked on Emporis for Dubai and, aside from Burj Dubai at 2,600 ft, there are 15 other skyscrapers under construction over 1000 ft. That's just incredible.

I agree. The overall skyline is VERY impressive and incredibly dense, but when you take a closer look, most of the highrises aren't that beautiful.

The skyline seems fine, the sky itself looks a little grey.

What's really incredible about Dubai is that there are 152 built or U/C buildings over 500'. To put that into perspective Chicago has 98, New York has 198 built. If you include the proposed Dubai buildings then the number jumps to 199 over 500'. Too bad it's still all looks so un-urban at street level. At least it does from the pictures I've seen.

Makes one wonder who will be using all those buildings in a city of 1.3 Million

they can turn all those empty apartments into sets for porn movies.

Nic pics, but ugly ugly ugly.

Not a fan of mainland chinese skylines.

But wait, do I see radio city?
