Station near the corner of Queen and King.

Everyone who travels the Gardiner is familiar with this view. In the centre of the photo, where the round tree is, there once was Sunnyside station.
Now.

Then. Please note my 'Now' picture is taken from the west from a pedestrian footbridge. The old pics below were taken from the east.

What is of particular interest (or perhaps not at all) :) is the 'portal' (is that the right word?), or some of it anyways; from the platform, is visible.

And, you used to be be able to drive from the King/Queen intersection down to Lakeshore Blvd.
Then.

Now. My 'Now' perspective is a little closer to the modern day intersection. I'd have to be suspended in mid air to take a correct historical perspective picture. The skycrane wasn't available on Friday afternoon.

Bridge was torn down for the Gardiner Expressway.

Thank you so much for posting that. It's fascinating. I wish they could restore that old bridge. The Sunnyside area of the waterfront is beautiful, but incredibly difficult to reach. A bridge from that busy intersection would really open things up.

Good Sunnyside and CN ROW pics!

Mustapha: Good Sunnyside and CN Main Line W ROW pics-I recognize that spot along the tracks that parallel the Gardner Expressway and Humber Bay W of Downtown-it amazes me that as heavily used as those tracks are how foliated they are. That TTC pic was interesting also with the CLRVs. LI MIKE
