I was riding one of the new TTC hybrid buses (#1289) heading eastbound on the 53 Steeles East route. One weird thing about this bus is that when a passenger makes a stop request, the resulting sound sounds nothing like a bell, but is more like a squeal...

The culprit... it's that black overhead speaker just behind the rear doors. No more real bells like on older buses.

That is the strangest sound I've ever heard.....perhaps there was something wrong with that bus?

deliverance; squeal like a bus?

sounds like that bus was being sodomized by a hillbilly with bad teeth in the georgia wilderness.

Hilarious! omg haha.
There has to be a problem with the speaker. There just has to be.

Today on Eglinton near Black Creek I saw a new bus with a malfunctioning side route information sign. It was flickering quickly.

Actually, one of the strangest stop request sounds has to be the low-pitched quack on some of the New Flyer buses in the Grand River Transit fleet, unless they fixed it in the past few years.
