Hmm I think those are the most depressing photos of Streetsville I've ever seen. It's actually a rather quaint village which you can't see here.

There's a village? I had no idea. I will try to look for it next time.

Go back to Queen Street/Mississauga Road and keep walking north. Some half-decent buildings there--and on the cross-streets.

Yes, you guys got me. I assumed that most people in the a forum called Urban Toronto would have no idea what Streetville, a place in the Toronto area, actually looks like, so I went out of my way to lie and misrepresent Streetsville to fool everyone it a concerted and deliberate effort make it and Mississauga look like a bad place.

Hazel McCallion was mayor of Streetsville before the amalgamation into Mississauga. People vote for her because they believe Mississauga would become a larger Streetsville under her. Never happened. Streetsville is still there as a model to be followed, and waiting, and waiting...

You think this "depressing" place should have been the model for the rest of Mississauga? I don't know...

Edit: btw, anyone on Flickr can view the photos in this photoset I have titled "Sauga: Streetsville: the shits". I am a fan of alliteration, you see.

I lived in northwest Mississauga for nearly 20 years; ain't NOBODY ever said to me "gee, I wish it would all get more like Streetsville..." Streetsville's quaint, but a little of it goes a long, long way, trust me.
