The tower is all kinds of gorgeous - love the curtainwall and the corner detail.

But why go to all that work and then make the podium such an afterthought? It compromises everything else.

Completely agreed, and I made the comment earlier. That 4 story building is pretty terrible. I think many are cutting it slack given the main building, but if it went up as a standalone development I think most wouldn't be happy.
I do admit it looks like a completely unrelated building so there's that.

Though I agree that the 'podium' is less than exciting, it really looks like a separate building and does nothing to detract from the tower - which looks better and better in comparison.
Walked by with a friend who studied architecture but has moved on in life. he was surprised when I told them the low rise building was part of the same development. best way to cheap out a building—make the cheap parts look like a different complex altogether!

I have no idea if this is real and I’m sorry if I fell for a fake but it looks like there was an incident at 160 Front recently.

Warning: Video has coarse language

Sure looked real to me. Hope the guy was okay.

BlogTO w/the story: https://www.blogto.com/city/2022/07/toronto-construction-worker-dangles-crane-video/

Most important bit first, (according to the article/reddit link) the worker is more or less ok, just some bruises and a broken wrist............not nice, but could obviously have been so much worse.

This building seems cursed sometimes. With the crane collapse and now this.
The boom of the north crane hit the building next door, there was no collapse… and there's no curse, puh-leeze, other than how bad the podium looks!

When something that seems benign in incident turns into a life fleeting horror show...

"...We are working with all appropriate authorities and the incident is currently under investigation."

...I certainly hope so.

Not too exciting but the excitement is building for the rest of the windows.

Steel floor up to level 42 and starting 43/44 verticals.
