Not that interesting but Marriott wants to make a new hotel due to the upcoming expansion of games at Woodbine Casino. There going be starting after there new hotel in Barrie is complete. Don't know the exact address but a company that's going to be doing work at the site described it as highway 27 and Albion, across from the Petro and Tim Hortons, potentially 1790 Albion road or the plaza next door to it

City council in July approved expanded gambling which includes more slot machines and the potential of poker, blackjack... I haven't heard of any recent news related to this expansion since July

not clear to me who/what a hotel at Albion and 27 would serve. If the idea is that expansion at woodbine (which as I understand it is a long way from a casino yet) needed hotel rooms.... would all that vacant land at, you know, woodbine not do a better job of that than a mixed industrial/retail site 5km away?

Also, "Marriott" would not be building anything.....if there is going to be a hotel here under one of their brands it will be built by someone else and they will sell/rent their brand/name/management program to the owner.

If there is to be a hotel at Albion and 27 it is more likely that one of the people who own lands in the area that is seeking out the highest/best use is thinking/planning on building a hotel and has licensed one of the Marriott brands for it to operate under.

All i know about the owner is that it's linked to the soon to be completed Marriott in Barrie. There finishing work there and then eventually moving onto this site as there next project

Looks like just about every other cookie cutter Fairfield Inn.

The car wash and drive through is busy! Must be a Tim Hortons, where people would rather sit in a giant cue wasting gas than run inside and grab a coffee in less than a minute.

well, it's pretty much the standard of every suburban hotel prototype in North America.
It's unfortunate that the design of gas stations hasn't changed that much for the last half century. Why can't they consolidate the car wash and the convenience store/gas station check out together? It would be great to watch the cars getting wash as you're having something at the Tim Hortons, etc. And also incorporate the gas station canopy with the other buildings like you see in Europe or Asia.

This is a stunning gas station that incorporates a McDonalds in Batumi, Georgia:

The bumper-to-bumper car queue at the drive-through in the illustration is hilarious given there are no other cars, people or context in the view.

it's to illustrate drive through capacity. There are minimum lengths depending on the use, IIRC something like a tims would require space to queue at least 10 cars. This one tries to cheat a little by providing a double width space at the entry, which wouldn't realistically work.

Also, you really think that georgia example fits in the budget of a typical gas station? enjoy paying $2/litre to finance something like that.

Oil companies are among the wealthiest businesses on the planet. They can afford to do something special.
