Out of curiosity, does anyone know is this building would be under rent control anymore? Or could rents now be jacked up sky high since they are constructing an addition to the building? Or would it be a mix of the renovated portion being under rent control, meanwhile the new addition is exempt from rent control?

@HousingNowTO maybe you have some additional insights?

I mean that's pretty cool that they added two floors & a bunch of new units onto an existing building while it looks like ppl were still living there.
But like as a poster noted earlier, is that like structurally sound. I'd assume no way the city would allow that if it was possible...
Isn't this something that should be done to many more buildings?
I also hope they would renovate the entire buildings, or atleast the common areas like hallways, laundry, landscaping.
I also hope rent control would be in place as well
