Donlands Beer Store could be demolished for redevelopment

Community council OKs public consultation on 7-storey apartment building

April 21, 2021

Plans to turn the Beer Store at Donlands Avenue and O’Connor Drive into a rental apartment building will move to the public consultation stage, the Toronto and East York Community Council has decided.

The plan would see the Beer Store at 380 Donlands demolished and replaced by a seven-storey mixed-use building, with rental housing above at-grade commercial use.

The building would contain 73 residential units and 58 parking spaces, as well as bike parking and indoor and outdoor amenities.

The application is in the early stages. At its April 13 meeting, the community council has simply asked staff to schedule a community consultation meeting in consultation with Toronto-Danforth Coun. Paula Fletcher.

If it goes ahead, it would be the second Beer Store redevelopment in Toronto-Danforth. In 2018, the Beer Store at Greenwood and Danforth avenues was demolished to make way for a five-storey condominium — which when finished will see a Beer Store on its first floor. [/Quote[
