…which is exactly how the OMB weighed-in, too!

(For others: it was the qualities of the view from the Crystal Ballroom of the King Edward that were in question, and it was ruled that they could not expect it to remain static. Neither did the OMB accept that more shadowing from a new building across the street from them would adversely affect users of the ballroom. I get that that King Eddy wanted to be able to show off a twinkling lights view, however, as a sellable feature of the space. Now there'll only be the glass wall of an office building across from them, so sure, it'll detract from the space. That's just not something they can protect forever.)

Maybe a new rendering?

Are you one of Toronto's most self-effacing corporations? Do you want a new head office that says 'neither our company as a whole, nor our staff individually have personalities?' Well, have we got an offensively design-free building for you.

Better they go bland with combining an entire block of distinct heritage buildings. We're not getting quality no matter what route they take.

The problem with these Building Permit notices is that they give very little detail. "Deficiency" could cover a multitude of problems. Clearly the demolition is getting closer, most of the businesses have now closed. Carisma is still open but their website notes : "New Location Coming Soon! 15 Toronto Street Coming September 2018". (I think the site of Mercato which is moving to 88 Scott.)

Too bad Cadillac Fairview already has a headquarters.

Why would they build such a small building here?
This is basically maxed out on the site, its size in context with all of the buildings approved around it, and meant to keep its shadow off of St James Cathedral to the east of Church Street.

There's a large new rendering in the windows on site from a different angle with Carterra's name over it. The glazing makes it look like an unexciting blend of Bay Adelaide and RBC Waterpark Place. Sorry, I didn't get a pic.

Edit: the images are on Carterra's website here: http://www.carttera.com/portfolio/

Here are two that I hadn't seen before:
