Took some photos as well. Shout out to the security guard that bumped into me from the UofT - sorry, didn't get your name.

77 Charles shows off it's rear end (facing South/West).

This is where Aston Martin's and the like will enter.

From the grounds of Victoria College. 2 beautiful buildings in Toronto.

I know we all love to complain about the overwhelming presence of green glass in modern condos, but this building has such a striking, vibrant, Emerald tinge. I love it. I guess it helps that there isn't much green glass in this particular area though.

If only more buildings used unitized curtain-wall with large panes of glass (less mullions) and designed to minimize spandrel. It would significantly raise the bar on Toronto design.

Yes, good green glass. I was by last week on a sunny day and it looks terrific close up and from a bit of a distance.

Random Question; I heard that Brad Pitt purchased a Penthouse unit in this bldg? Is this true, or was it another Yorkville condo?

I saw a flat bed bringing up new glass curtain wall for 77 Charles yesterday and started wondering where such high quality, customized glass work is fabricated. Does anyone know?

Thanks, its great to know we're still making things in Canada.

It does seem many of the window/curtainwall companies are based here in Ontario. You have;

http://www.statewindowcorp.com/index.html (State Window Corp.)
http://www.skywindowtech.com/index.php/website/ (Sky Window Technologies)
http://www.questwindows.com/ (Quest Windows)
http://www.ottawavalleyglass.com/ (Ottawa Valley Glass)
http://www.allanwindows.com (Allan Window Technologies)
http://www.primelinewindows.com/ (Primeline Windows)
http://fnglass.com/ (Ferguson Neudorf) - Did the podium for Shangri-la (some nice photos of the installation on their website)
http://www.sotawall.com/ (Sota Glazing)

It seems TRUMP and Shangri-La are one of the few using product from China (IE: Far East Aluminum Canada Corp. http://www.fareastglobal.com). Clear Spirit/Gooderham also use curtainwall from China. The rest of the developments are using local product, which of course is always nice to hear.

I just noticed this after walking by it twice a day everyday: it's very subtle and quite smart, but the podium is not parallel to the sidewalk. It matches up with the little second empire building on the eastside and then angles towards the residence, so it is a more even presence to the street and fits in better with its immediate neighbours.
