I am confused. You are comparing some little bar with an absolutely massive multi-purpose (retail, dining, entertainment, residential, office) development that cost at least $1.4 billion to construct?
ah yes my bad, same name for both - thought you meant the bar - forgot the other one was called the well..

I can't always remember the name of these new developments lol - but yes this would def be hamiltons version of the well if it ever got built, but I am not confident at all in the fact that it will be. I just hate the fact this is going to just sit there and rot - it is now what the lister block was before its revitalization.

Could use some upgrades (isn't HUPEG doing that) but it's quite large and I don't think we need another one or a replacement. It's barely used as is.
"Quite large" isn't exactly accurate. It's certainly smaller than the convention centres for pretty much all Canadian cities around the size of Hamilton or larger, but it is a fair point that the need is probably not there, so maybe it is quite large relative to that.

I just want the space to be used for something more useful than crappy condos from a so-so developer.

How about a little amusement park? We could call it Hamilton's Wonderland.

Or like an Edmonton mall look where it's all indoors - it'd be the perfect sport for it - or an indoor water park like they have by the niagara casino - where it's basically inside a giant airplane hanger - very cool :)

Only problem with an amusement park is unless you build UP there really isn't THAT much room for anything substantial.

But yes crappy condos is a windfall here - it should have something iconic that defines the city.

To be fair, larger conventions and trade shows were for Copps Coliseum. Probably don't even need to have it anymore, perhaps reimagine what it could be, perhaps an expansion of the AGH

A convention space seems pretty necessary, even if it is (maybe?) underutilized. AGH seems even less busy to me.

How about a downtown Costco?

So we're gonna have a farmers market, nations, that little hasty market up the street AND a downtown costco? That seems like a lot of grocery in one place.. that and a lot of people who go to costco drive cuz well.. they but in bulk.. so would the overpass to the parking garage still be kept?

Personally I'd like to see something other than a costco go here..

Well if we are dreaming, let's get a Canadian Tire or urban format Home Depot slide in. Given that it is a provincial tower, more likely an institutional use would get the nod. AGH is looking to expand. They have something like 10,000 pieces in storage, not enough walls to display. Also agree that they are not a massive draw, but they too can host functions.

As for this site, maybe a bit too ambitious for IN8, maybe Lamb can kick some tires.

I honestly think a well/entertainment hub is needed here - casino/bowling alley/playdium/potential amusement park/waterpark/ritzy hotel- something that makes people gravitate to the center of the city - all these new condos with high paying people - they all spend their money, then spill out onto king william to eat, and if all went well go to the mansion club for entertainment and dancing after
