Why is the thread title 80 Atlantic if the City app refers to 60 Atlantic?
Not sure why the application is filed under 60 Atlantic, but the images clearly show an address of 80 Atlantic.

It's simple enough: it's on the same property. 80 is being built on the site of the surface parking lot for 60. 80 is a "convenience" address as opposed to a legal one.

I'd missed this previously; what a fantastic looking proposal. From courtyard to laneway to generally attractive mid-rise, this neighbourhood is in dire need of more of this.

Universal Music Canada opening office, performance space in Liberty Village

Office will include recording facilities and be a hub for artists, says UMC president

Universal Music Canada (UMC) announced Tuesday that it will be leaving its current home in North York and opening a new office in Toronto's Liberty Village neighbourhood, at 80 Atlantic Ave.

UMC president Jeffrey Remedios said he hopes the new office, which will occupy the ground-floor of the soon-to-be-constructed building, will be a hub for nascent Toronto talent.

"80 Atlantic will be the next phase of the growth and evolution of our city's music community as we build greater resources and support for artists, enabling them to fully refine their craft at home," he said.

Included in the office are plans for a performance space, recording studio and a "motion and content creation space" alongside regular offices.

It's all part of Universal's move towards becoming a "music-focused media company," said Remedios.

John Tory was on hand at the announcement to give his blessing, telling the crowd that "this is the kind of creativity and innovation that I want to see in every corner of Toronto."

The recording studios will be open to independent musicians as well as Universal recording artists, a category which includes Canadian music heavyweights like Drake, The Weeknd, Alessia Cara and Shawn Mendes.

Update:
Construction is well underway for 80 Atlantic Avenue in Liberty Village. The 5-storey office building is being developed by Hullmark, the same company behind the revitalization of the adjacent 60 Atlantic two years ago. Designed by Quadrangle, 80 Atlantic is set to become Toronto's first new timber-frame commercial building in decades, replacing a surface parking lot with 85,100 ft² of office and restaurant space.

The Carpenters Union has a facility in Vaughan where they train the next generation of carpenters. Pretty cool.

They also have a mockup of what should be the basis for 80 Atlantic's framework. Very big 22" x 22" and very cool looking.
