Actually, the whole design has been handled poorly. The crown, therefore, shouldn't come as a surprise.
 
Afraid I have to agree here and say very dissapointed in the crown not matching any part of this design or with other materials for the building. Shaking head. Heavy sigh.
 
Zero imagination, cheap materials, overbearing built form. The whole thing is a mess.
 
It's because they fiddled with the crown to make sure it doesn't shadow on St James Park. They shifted the massing around to accommodate that from the original crown design, instead of lopping off a few floors and maintaining the design..
 
If the cap of the building is going to be angled to one side. They should at least top the highest point with something ornamental or even a pole like the Trump Tower have etc.
 
From street level no one will really notice the top. No one will see that it looks like they 'just gave up' on the upper most floors. At least the bottom has the nice limestone etc. for pedestrian traffic.
