Since no one's posted the latest from urbanation, here it is:

906 Yonge St (current home of Ridpath Furniture) will be incorporated into new condo / hotel development (2 bldgs) http://twitpic.com/1z0s5o

906 Yonge St, just north of Davenport--across the street from the Crappy Tire (how long before it goes high rise as well?)

and the beat goes on......Wow!

^ Yeah, it's amazing. This is the 3rd new project I've heard about today alone. BTW, Ridpath's property extends all the way back to McMurrich St.

OPA / Rezoning 10 200615 STE 27 OZ 906 YONGE ST Jun 18, 2010 --- --- Ward-27
South-District --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- ---
Rezoning application to permit the redevelopment of the lands for the purposes of a hotel and resdiential development consisting of 28 and 35 storey towers atop a two storey podium complete with parking spacs below grade and three loading spaces. The proposal includes the partial rentention of the historically listed Ridpath's furniture store building.

Seems good. Retains the historic buildings and adds density at an acceptable height for the neighbourhood.

Didn't the Ridpaths store originally expand laterally, i.e. into the 920 Yonge podium space that's now occupied by Christine's Fitness?

...which'll almost surely involve the incorporation of the already-false "original" facade as some kind of podium feature...

took a shot at the sign they posted

http://www.toronto.ca/legdocs/mmis/2011/te/bgrd/backgroundfile-34586.pdf

Proposal
35 storeys tower fronting Yonge Street, 108 metres, hotel / residential, 3 levels underground parking
28 storeys tower fronting McMurrich Street, 87 metres, 100% residential, 5 levels underground parking
Requesting 14.8 FSI (wow!)

Addresses
906 Yonge Street
25 McMurrich Street

Architect is KPMB

The 35-storey tower would be one of the slenderest in the city - less than 50 feet wide north-south.
