Thanks very much for your quick reply. I could not attend that May meeting unfortunately. I appreciate your answers to my questions as well. I did see the previous parts of the chain but being technically challenged about the workings of computers, I just inserted my own 2 cents' worth. Sorry for the inconvenience to you.
For the most part, the comments are somewhat general and I am being picky. I love the idea of transforming the corner of Woodbine and Danforth and might choose to live there one day. I wouldn't move in, though, unless TTC property and the new buildings are attractive inside and outside any entryways.
Obviously, a wider sidewalk is a terrific idea.
It's very small issues I'm pointing out because something like specially designed ashtrays might have to be built into a wall and the same for garbage bins. Big and relevant questions might be: How many ashtrays? How many garbage bins? Where should they be? Maybe these are minor structural matters not needing to be addressed in early planning stages but I myself do not know about such installations. I'm just a senior who walks through that area many days each week and who is distressed about the state of it. I have emailed Valumart's manager, the former Dominion Bank and the TTC more than once about the need of serious, regular cleanup. It seems finally possible to get some action and I for one am excited to imagine something impressive rise at Danforth and Woodbine, north-east corner.
Does anyone know who is responsible for keeping sidewalks clean? I always thought the occupant was. I think I am expected to keep the public sidewalk in front of my house clear of snow in winter and well swept in summer. I don't know about Woodbine and Danforth. Snow, yes but dirt, etc. - who knows?
Thanks for reading this.

There is a by-law concerning snow removal in front of one's property, though it is not exactly enforced with any rigour.

There is no by-law concerning maintaining the sidewalk or removing third-party litter from public property.

Many businesses do clean the sidewalk in front of their premises, some BIAs (business improvement areas) pay for this as well. However it is not an obligation.

Thanks, Mr/Ms/Mrs. environmentally conscientious, libertarian inclined, fiscally conservative, socialist. I've often wondered. So, in the case of Woodbine & Danforth n/e, management could get together and commit themselves to a budget which includes looking after a suitable cleaning program, to please not just the public but the businesses and condo buyers who would want to enter new and inviting places.

There is a BIA for this area.

It's large, though it doesn't have a large budget, as some do.

It's not Yorkville or Downtown Yonge.

But perhaps they might support such a program.

This is the BIA for this section of Danforth.

Are you claiming that the owners of the project would not be open to taking responsibility for the aesthetics of their own property, to their own advantage?

With great respect; my patience is becoming tested.

I made no such claims; I helped you by pointing you to those who could entertain your suggestion. Nothing more, nothing less.

Not meaning any annoyance but when you wrote 'there is a BIA for this area' I took you to mean that a BIA is the only way to deal with my concerns; that the corporation/architects/designers - I don't know the appropriate entity - don't address them.

Hmm, other than removing the dark col.our from the top of the tower, I don't see a big re-work of the idea here.

It doesn't show Woodbine Stn built-over/integrated which was one of the key issues; the others were affordable housing/rental, and the Councillor strongly wanted some office/employment space (non-retail).

Hmm

Does anyone know if there will be a Starbucks either on the retail level of this development or at the retail part of any nearby developments? Because the nearest Starbucks in this area. is either at Monarch Park and Danforth or at the Loblaws at Victoria Park and Gerrard

The primary retail tenant of this site will be a Loblaws supermarket, likely under the City Market brand.

There will probably be additional stores; but that is TBD.

The entire development is currently being reconsidered with a new proposal likely to emerge in the weeks and months ahead.

There won't be any retail here (other than existing) before 2024.

Dont worry, there will be plenty of Starbucks' to go around in this city the way developers suck the life out of retail these days. If not here, you'll see one in your local neighborhood soon I can assure you.

Meanwhile, east of Woodbine and Danforth, two new independent coffee shops have popped up and a third one has changed owners and refreshed its look in just the last couple of months. A Tim Hortons is also coming to the corner of Danforth and Cedarvale. So although Starbucks won’t be long, there will be lots of indy choices as well. It seems the recently completed Canvas condo is driving coffee shops.
