While I always arrange to have local currency on me when arriving in a foreign land…

you're right, it's crazy that there's no machine waiting to provide a ticket for the rocket in return for the tap of a credit card. That would be a place to install a Presto machine - and that bus would be a good one to have one - tout de suite.

So, what's any of this have to do with Aura?

Aura is tall, and the TTC's problems are large. Tallness and largeness are properties of sizes.

So worry not--we're well on topic here.

The lights are on now. It was a bit bright out so the contrast is low.

I personally think it's a great addition to the skyline even if it could have been completed a bit better. It really ties the skyline together

Here it is from Leslieville over the last three days:

The lights are on now. It was a bit bright out so the contrast is low.

So they seem to be trying to outwit us by testing the lights during the day rather than at night.

This really is a building that looks far better in the distance than close up.
Yikes, I'm not sure I agree. That first shot from the east to my eye shows exactly how awkward and incoherent this building truly is. The rectilinear base coupled with the curved top look almost comically bad to me...

A stain in the skyline. Nice pix though.

Hardly so. The actual staining occurs up close with the lower half of the tower, and the retail podium.
I appreciate Aura for having a unique design and shape. It's a contemporary building that is unlike any other in city; and isn't really something you would find in many other cities across the globe. Dare I say that off the top of my head, this is a uniquely Toronto building. I can't think of another building that strongly resembles Aura (of course, this is subjective).
It's far from a perfect design, with many not-so flattering angles; including how it looks from all of Yonge Street north of college, however, I stand by it as the most uniquely designed building in the city, more so than L tower in my opinion. Skyline identity and presence are top-notch and the lighting feature will only emphasize it's distinctive roofline. Of course it helps that Aura is currently unrivalled height-wise in its location, but I think we can all appreciate that this isn't just another box on the skyline.
