A more than 70M Community Hub, anchored by the YMCA has been announced today, with funding from all three levels of government.

Groundbreaking is scheduled for September!
 
The site is the sportsfield of the former High School for this area.

The building was demo'ed a few years ago, and is now townhomes.

I don't see anything in the AIC for this.......but maybe I'm missing it.
 
Why did it take so long to get started here? Was it waiting for the stars to align for funding from the different levels of gov't?

To summarize the above............yes, funding was a critical issue, especially early on.........

Then...politics, particularly as it relates to the future of Scaborough Health's Birchmount Campus came into play as well.
