Great project, hoping they put new hardscape all the way abutting the Govt of Canada building, leaving that ugly asphalt would be a travesty.

Yes, this are will be fully pedestrianised and made "nice" but only AFTER the Dominion Public Building project is done, last I heard there will be retail and cafes on the DPB ground level.

God I hope that project falls through.
I think the project isn't to bad of a proposal, the only part i can't stand is how the towers don't compliment the rest of the building and look awkward. I hope there is more revision and a new design comes out. maybe it avoids towers all together and does a similar addition to what was done at 2 queen west.

Didn’t even think of that as an option. Great idea. Although personally, this is a rare instance where I’d rather they just not touch it at all. I feel the same about a lot of additions personally. That’s short of building additions in their original style- or at least, an exclusively complimentary one. most end up creating a competition with the original structure that is not due, and more often than not is inferior.

In this instance an addition could work, but unlike 2 Queen W I’d rather that addition deliberately take a whole back seat. I think it’ll be hard to overpower the street presence of the current building, but better we don’t try. I do suppose there is merit in this vein to have a well set-back tower or two, but the current rendition seems to want to steal the show. This might legitimately be one of the few places in Toronto I’d actively vouch for subsequent setbacks. Perhaps on a couple rectangular floor plates in line with the visual proportions of Dominion.

Not to derail this this thread, but this building shouldn't even be touched. Not in the slightest.
