Why spring for well-considered architecture when you can just do a gigantic maple leaf graphic (read: gimmick)?

What's unfortunate is how many people will actually see it as an acceptable substitute for great architecture. I can already picture the posts in here that will say "wow, it actually makes a really nice statement from the water" or "tourists will get a strong, urban impression of Canada from this!" -__-

Sure, they're not special, but I hardly think of them as bad enough to get worked up over...Especially considering how low Concord is willing to stoop at Yonge / Bloor and Park Place...

A few, from a couple of different spots, taken June 3rd, 2024:

First, from the lane just east of Spadina, just north of D'Arcy.

Now a pair from Front and Portland:
