the entire venture is about minimizing costs and maximizing profit with zero regard for architecture or what this gives back to the city. you know, pretty much standard Toronto development practice 95% of the time.

Why spring for well-considered architecture when you can just do a gigantic maple leaf graphic (read: gimmick)?
What's unfortunate is how many people will actually see it as an acceptable substitute for great architecture. I can already picture the posts in here that will say "wow, it actually makes a really nice statement from the water" or "tourists will get a strong, urban impression of Canada from this!" -__-

Sure, they're not special, but I hardly think of them as bad enough to get worked up over...Especially considering how low Concord is willing to stoop at Yonge / Bloor and Park Place...
