I remember as a young engineering student in the 80's sneaking into "Copps Coliseum" while it was under construction. Great memories!
Yeah, I did the same thing while in high school... me and a couple buddies walked right in through the York garage entrance and stood right at would be centre ice (the roof was on at that point).
Security guards eventually escorted us out. :p

It genuinely pains me to see these images. They literally destroyed this city. It used to look European. Now.... i'm not sure what it is 🤢
Now its been stripped of all its character and represents what our society has become - glassy, and empty - devoid of craftsmanship. Thank god for core urban and the fact hamilton rotted in the 80s and 90s instead of being bulldozed like so many other cities or we'd be a lot cause entirely.

Fun fact - toronto still has its sister farmers market- it looks pretty much exactly the same as our original building did so you can always appreciate theirs - unless they've demolished it at this point too.. dunno.. been a while since I've seen it..

they also have their sister city hall which looks the same as ours - imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, although I fail to recall offhand who imitated whom - or perhaps it was the same architect who did both..

I still love the original image of hamilton, which looks more like winona..

There was another post this week stating that they are on schedule to open next year, as planned.

Feels like it's too early to state that they're on schedule since it's been less than 3 months since they started.
Maybe it's a sign that things will be easier than they expected and that they are ahead of schedule. Hopefully not a sign that shortcuts being taken!

^Also a big restaurant opening at street level. I wonder which side?
That restaurant will be interesting! From the article, it says a "Global Canadian Icon" is involved. This may sound insane, but could it be Drake? Shai & Drake are friends & Drake also has ties with Tim Leiweke, former CEO of MLSE and now CEO of Oak View Group, the company behind this project. One can only wonder, but that would be pretty cool!

Very much doubt that it is Drake. Maybe Matty Matheson.
