It's coming to life! Shoppers is now open. They are yet to put their signs up. We got a flyer in the mail from foodBasics yesterday, they will be selling wine and beer.

Shoppers, looking towards the Dupont entrance:

The hallway leads the parking garage, the lobby (behind the windows), and to the courtyard at the back, which also leads to more parking:

I went this morning to check out both the SDM and FB space. The only issue I have was the parking garage is horrible (the worst I have ever seen on a new development.) There is only one way to get in (which also happens to be the only way to get out.) The other issue is that the travelling lanes within the garage are too narrow to accommodate a vehicle in each direction along with people walking with food back to their vehicles. There was significant road rage inside. Also, the parking spaces are tiny and the signage is horrible. The lighting is poor. Basically I felt that the underground parking looked like it was from a building built at least 30 years ago.

Once the RBC opens up and more people occupy the condos I am not sure how people will be able to move around. The layout is horrible.

One good thing though is the Food Basics and Shoppers space is great.

A different perspective.

I bet a lot of people wouldn't believe this photo was taken in the Dupont and Lansdowne area. It looks like a contemporary city neighbourhood built on greenfields in this photo, like Mississauga's city centre.

Overall, while this project isn't a quantum leap for the area, it makes it significantly better with the revitalized heritage warehouse, the new retail options, and the added density of new middle class residents.

The detailing on the newest phase of townhouses along Lansdowne (Heritage Towns in Davenport Village) is really well done. And is aesthetically the most positive contribution to the changing area. They remind me of certain parts in Amsterdam in some ways with their form and materials used. I just wish they had more phases built in this specific model, which IMO look way better than the townhouses on the interior of the area. Weather was horrible today, but I'll try to get some photos next time.

Photos as promised earlier, Halloween edition as well.

Balzac's will be opening on December 8! The interior is pretty neat. There seems to be a second retail until available. Photos taken yesterday:
