Here's how the renderings originally portrayed the base to be like. I was under the impression that the facades were supposed to be retained. However, with the fire on the eastern section of the site earlier and what now even looks like the demolition of the corner house, I'm not sure what the end result will be like now.

However, with the fire on the eastern section of the site earlier and what now even looks like the demolition of the corner house, I'm not sure what the end result will be like now.

From the pictures above, it looks like they stripped the outer brickwork from the corner house- it will likely be a reconstruction I think- or accurately- a resurrection.
 
Solid build/design but the tower cantilever over the rebuilt "historical" base is.. a bit terrifying. I know we have few earthquakes (plus have flawless engineering of course) but I might offer hard hats to street level tenants. Cool but scary.
 
Are they rebuilding the heritage facade or is it completely gone at this point? If so, shouldn't they redesign the podium and affected areas? The initial design doesn't seem to be practical.
