they knew they had to do something to cover up this monstrosity lmaoThe art piece along the front is actually quite large, and is by daily tous les jours.
During the day the mirrored panels hide the hulking parking podium, and at night a light animates around the shape of an arch.
Agree 100% it makes zero sense to me. Especially when they did so good with heritage restoration.Covering a monstrosity with another monstrosity.
That curved mirrored glass facade is tacky and bizarrely out of place. It should belong on a casino or 90s shopping mall entrance.
Why can't they do something sympathetic to the history of the site and neighbouring buildings? It's just a hot mess of different unappealing architectural styles with no rhyme or reason.

Wow, trasharama! That sets a new low bar for built environment crap… so I had the add to the record here, and not just let a couple of emojis suffice. The art piece along the front is actually quite large, and is by daily tous les jours.

Hello Hello
At The Gaslight District, we want to keep the hellos going until we have more in common than we ever thought possible. So, as you enter the square, step up to the megaphones of Hello Hello and offer a warm greeting to new friends, your city, and even the Grand River. Then watch your message climb the “Hello Arch” and turn into a sound and light show. This installation is the perfect ritual for entering a public area designed to turn strangers into friends.
Hello Hello also has a five-storey metallic wall that reflects your message across the river and into the heart of our city. There are no goodbyes at The Gaslight District—just bright, bold hellos.
River Lines
One of Cambridge’s cultural stories is the Grand River and the historic 100-year flood of 1974. During that fabled flood, we left our homes and backyards and worked as a united congregation to help one another. Decades later, River Lines brings us together once again—this time to be a congregation at play.
Step on a floor sensor and discover the sound it creates. Keep moving. Your steps will connect to those of your neighbours and together you will start creating music that is unique to Cambridge. Dance all day and night—you’re among family.
Doesn’t look horrible but why neon blue light? It looks kinda tacky…The art piece along the front is actually quite large, and is by daily tous les jours.
