The City is reviewing the lane closure here. Apparently Tory is getting tough on lane closure requests for condo developments… but other than Tory declaring that not every request will be rubber stamped, I haven't seen what the criteria will be for approval or denial.

Minto's Westside project got denied their request to close one lane of Bathurst for 2 years. Minto instead was granted the closure of the sidewalk. I don't remember hearing anything regarding this building, but I'm sure it will affect most building construction projects.
This makes perfect sense as the lane closure would have meant traffic headaches all day long from King West to Lake Shore. This is a great move as developers take up and negatively compromise the public realm to construct their buildings with not enough compensation for all the issues it causes to others.
Tory mentioned cities such as New York rarely allow road closures for building construction during his press coverage in front of the Minto site the other day.

A lane has been closed with hoarding/covered walkway erected last week.
There is one less lane for cars but luckily the bike lane has been preserved.

I'm amazed they went this long without the closure to be honest. The construction had been spilling out onto the road for a while now already.
