Adding density between Lawrence and York Mills would be fantastic but I don't see this happening at least not at a height comparable to what we are seeing at Eglinton and Sheppard/Finch.

I think Hullmark is going to be the new landmark for spotting Yonge street while driving on the 401. It should obviously be the first building that comes into view. I wonder how far out we will be able to see it?

Yeah, i don't think we'll see any 40-50 story skyscrapers emerging in that area. but even anything over 20 stories would be visible in the sea of green that is comprised of these areas :).

Hullmark should be visible from MANY MANY areas!. you name it! even from as far north as Richmond hill and as far east as Scarborough, and to the west possibly near the airport. And if you're up in a building you should have no problem seeing it :)

The plaza is completely down now, and looks like a huge pile of metal now. Its quite a sight, but alas, I had no camera on my way home from work, and traffic is insane there so hard for me to take a pic from the car...Sorry ladies and gents.

terrific news!. i haven't been down to the intersection in a while. it should look very empty now that the former plaza is gone. I'm hoping that groundbreaking will start as soon as they clear the rubble.

Pictures of Hullmark

I posted some pictures from behind the demolition zone, I'll try to post some pictures from the front of the demolition site tomorrow.

I hate to say it, but...I'd like to see more demolition pictures of the Metro parabola, whether in UT or floating around on Flickr somewhere...

I'm so happy to see the old Metro gone... it was horrible. I'm referring to the food/produce quality.

Bye-bye Metro...

The intersection will be messy for the next few years; somehow I don't mind!

I have a birds eye (from above) image of the demo from this morning that would be great to share. However I can't make sense of the instructions under FAQ to insert images. I can only upload images for a new thread - but how do I get them into this thread? Hopefully someone out there can patiently provide a better instructions on how to do this?

I think I figured it out - the first image is of the site - it's been fascinating watching the meticulous demo and sorting of materials.

The second image shows the site across the street where Emerald Park will go. I'm going to have fun watching both these projects going up from my office.

Thanks. I hope Tridel will install a web camera soon, giving us 24/7 view of the site.

Investigating a construction camera and other photography options.

More pictures of the site

These were taken on Wednesday morning (Sept 8th) from the south.

As others have noted all the demo work is now done.
