As a square one resident. I would love to visit downtown Brampton on foot. But I need an LRT to get me there and for it to revitalize the area so there is something to see once I get there.

You don't need an LRT to visited the 4 block of Brampton downtown. Take BT 502 from CCTT; MT 17 and transfer at Derry to the 103/502/2.

You have the Rose Theater, some small stores and eating place, Brampton VIA/GO station as well a lot of CN Traffic. You can have the last look at the office building that is part of Bampton Transit/GO bus terminal before the whole block is raze to build the 3rd GO track and a new bus terminal.

A few blocks south on Main Street you will find the City Hall, a nice park where the pathway becomes a skating area in the winter, the old Jail and prison across from the park

Saw more workers on the line for a Sunday in a long time. Was planning on going to the south end after doing the north, but Hurontario is close between Minneola and Lakeshore with local traffic allow in. Been close since Thursday and to open on Monday. Traffic and transit using Minneola, Cawthra and the Lakeshore detour route,

Saw a fair number of dump trucks getting dirt and gravel from the 401 compound for the work in the south end.

Southbound traffic now using the new southbound lanes from Eglinton to north of Kingsbridge.

Eglinton traffic is using the eastbound lanes only as single lanes in each direction. Other the the guideway area for Eglinton dug, not much else been done.

Lots of outstanding trackwork still hasn't been touch.

My plan for Topflight went out the window when I noticed a large work crew working on the tracks. The inbound track has been spliced together including the switch that wasn't there last week. The outbound track is partly splice together with grinding taking place on the splices for the switch.

Inbound track partly tape with missing clip bolts being installed as well be level. Still a lot of trackwork still to be done as well 4 more switches. Doing the Portuguese method for the trackwork along the lines found in Europe from what I was told.

Noticed a number of areas where a top coat is for the tracks and these areas are for future stations. Going to be fun to have them built as well extending the ones that will be in service on day one with LRV's running by the sites. Most work will be done at night.

Forming underway for the Rathburn ramp.

Trackwork is supposed to be on schedule with the forming of the guideway well behind schedule so I am told. If trackwork is on schedule, why is there are soo many areas still waiting for trackwork to be completed let alone being installed.

Left the other camera at home by error as I was planning on doing some videoing of the line and only did 2 using the DSLR which I hate doing.

Never shot that area on Sunday as I was more interested in the switches and the road area on the south side. The main focus is getting the intersection open and moving the northbound lanes to where they should ne so they can build the missing section of this area to the one where traffic is shifted to the south.

I have photos, but have to wait until I finish Sat shooting and should be in in a a few days.

Perhaps but I loath the bus so would rather just miss out on what’s there then. Maybe in 2035 I’ll hit it up.

Should note I could get photos at Englewood this week due to rain, but work has started on the guideway for it while traffic is swung to the east Like I thought it would be Will try for photos on Friday. Will find out how big the track crew is once tracks being install along with Topflight and Eglinton since Eglinton is haft way point for the line. Trackwork will between Topflight and Eglinton will not be done until Q2 2024 subject to weather.

Also, pouring of the southbound lane curb is underway north of of Fairview to Sq one Dr. Once done, will flip to the northbound lane curb between Sq One Dr and Burnhamthorpe with work stop at Absolute due to no permit from the city. It seems for some reasons the city is late issuing permits and holding up work.

A few members will be happy with this.

As of this coming Monday, track speed for Port Credit GO station will return to Normal or early in the week with the removal of the track bridge and reinstalling normal track.

There will be no GO service Period for PC as the station will be close as of tonight that you will have to catch the GO buses to/from Toronto at Clarkson. Don't know if 21C will be going to PC or will it go to Clarkson. Hourly service west of Oakville and no idea if VIA and the NF trains are on detour by the Halton/Weston Sub

Had a looked at PC area today and the top of the PC station is still the same as it was during the summer. Work underway for the north section of the station that you can see rebar framing for the concours level being put into place.

No real guideway work yet for Englewood intersection, but area has been dug with core drilling for the OS and traffic lights foundation poles. Hard to get a close look as Jersey barriers have been installed with fencing in place of pylons and fencing.

Up at the QEW, the old ramp has been removed to allow the building of the sidewalk and the the new road. Slopping grading in place from the new ramp to the new road.

​ ​ Mississauga South​

​ ​ What's Happening​ Crews continue to work on relocation of watermain, storm and Alectra infrastructure in Mississauga South. This includes installation of Installation of 27 new Alectra poles along the east side of Hurontario Street. In the coming months, work will begin to connect Alectras underground infrastructure to properties along the west side of Hurontario Street.​ Guideway Installation at Eaglewood Blvd​ Mississauga South is about to see its first piece of guideway installation at the newly built Eaglewood bridge. This 40-metre stretch will precede the rest of the guideway construction that is currently progressing from north to south to avoid a closure of the future Eaglewood intersection after it has been opened to vehicular traffic. The rest of the guideway and tracks are expected to be installed in Mississauga South in 2024. The attached construction notice was delivered to the community in early October.

​ ​ Removal of the Verona System​ The Verona System is a temporary modular bridge within a railway corridor. It provides the necessary structural support for freight and passenger trains travelling at up to 80 km/h and allows for excavation and box jacking to take place underneath with minimal disruption to train service overhead. Removal of this system is a delicate operation that will require a weekend closure of the Lakeshore West Line between Oakville GO Station and Union Station. Keeping our communities in mind, Metrolinx has taken the opportunity to complete additional and important rail work to limit future disruptions to the system. This work will begin on October 27 at 10pm and complete by Oct 30 at 9am. Stay up to date on service changes by signing up for On the GO Alerts.

​ ​ QEW South- East Ramp Relocation​ Mobilinx crews recently undertook the important work to build and install an additional underpass at the QEW. Relocation of the eastbound ramp creates room for northbound traffic on Hurontario Street to flow through the new underpass that was installed in fall 2022. This will also allow for the LRT guideway construction in the existing northbound lanes where the future LRV will travel along Hurontario Street.

​ ​ Mississauga Cooksville​

​ ​ What's Happening​ Crews continue to work on relocation of watermain, storm, sanitary while also undertaking preparatory work for installation of new electrical pole installations. This work will be followed by road widening, new curb installation and paving works that will proceed guideway installation.​ Weekend Sanitary Crossing at Hillcrest Avenue​ As utility upgrades progress in the area, crews will be installing sanitary infrastructure on Hurontario Street near Hillcrest Avenue from 10 p.m. on October 27 to 9 a.m. on October 30, 2023. The work hours will be continuous throughout this duration. Some temporary lane closures will be required during this work. This work is being done on the weekend so that the crews will be able to complete them safely and efficiently while minimizing impacts. Full details can be found on the construction notice sent to properties with in 500 meters of the working area.

Mississauga Centre​

What's Happening​ Community members who frequent Mississauga Center will see various construction activities, with crews grading and placing new cubs on Rathburn Road while there are ongoing utility relocations along Hurontario Street.​ Guideway installation at Eglinton Avenue​ Guideway work has officially reached the boarder of Mississauga North and Mississauga Centre! The community can expect to see work to install tracks at the intersection of Hurontario Street and Eglinton Avenue later this month. Guideway installation will be done in two phases to mitigate impacts to traffic flow. Work will begin on the north half of the intersection. When completed, crews will shift staging over to the south half of the intersection. During this process, east-west traffic will be reduced to single lanes in each direction. Left turns will also not be permitted in the intersection. Detours routes are available via Bristol Road, McLaughlin Road, and Kenney Road, as well as Elia Avenue and Sorrento Drive. Work is scheduled to begin on Thursday October 19, 2023 at 10 p.m., until Monday December 18, 2023 at 10 p.m. You will find full details on the construction notice recently distributed by Canada Post to properties with in 500 metes of the impacts.

Progress on the Elevated Guideway​ Work to construct the elevated guideway is moving fast, with on two of the four abutments remaining to be installed. All 16 pillars are now in place, with guideway being constructed along the top. This structure will connect to Hurontario Street at the intersection of Square One Drive and north of the 403 bridge.

Highway 403 Bridge Rehabilitation​ The Hurontario Street bridge over Highway 403 is currently being rehabilitated. The rehabilitation is part of maintenance of the bridge, bringing it up to date with current industry standards. The enhancements include waterproofing, forming and rebar works for the sidewalks and pouring of improved parapet and wing walls. This work increases the durability and safety of the structure.

Mississauga North​

What's Happening​ Work to install track along Hurontario Street in Mississauga North continues to progress as we continue to move south into Mississauga Centre.​ Once track work is complete in Mississauga North the dynamic testing phase will begin. The dynamic testing phase is an exciting time when the community will see light rail vehicles being tested in the "burn-in" section of the tracks between Topflight Avenue and Eglinton Avenue. In addition to vehicle movement, crews will be actively assessing a wide variety of systems and functions including communications, doors, overhead electrical connectivity, and power transfers, as well as seeing how the vehicles perform while accelerating and braking to ensure that future commuters enjoy a smooth and safe ride. Curved Track Installation at Topflight Drive​ Crews are working towards the completion of curved track installation at the intersection of Hurontario Street and Topflight drive. This work is creating the critical connection from the main line on Hurontario Street to the Operations, Maintenance and Storage Facility just south of Highway 407. Once in operation, trains heading to the OMSF will turn onto Topflight Drive, heading towards Edwards Boulevard. Construction at Topflight has been extended into early December to facilitate the completion of this critical work.

Brampton South​

What's Happening​ Crews continue to work on relocation of watermain, storm, sanitary while also undertaking preparatory work for installation of new electrical pole installations. This work will be followed by road widening, new curb installation and paving works that will proceed guideway installation. Highway 407 Overpass Expansion​ The Highway 407 bridge is currently being widened to accommodate the LRT in the center of the roadway. Work is underway to remove both the east and west side of the overpass, form new abutments and new girder installation and concrete pouring. This work also increases the durability and safety of the structure. Work will increase to 24hrs per day. However, any temporary lane closures on Hurontario and Hwy 407 will take place overnight to keep traffic moving smoothly with minimal impacts to commuters.

The Operations, Maintenance and Storage Facility​

The Operations, Maintenance and Storage Facility is busy with activity, crews are working on the exterior of the building, including landscaping and guideway installation between the OMSF and Edwards Boulevard. The buildings interior is nearing completion, with work ongoing to complete the control room, with more staff working from the offices onsite every day.

Whoa whoa whoa.

The bridge may be getting removed (finally), but that doesn't mean that speeds are going to immediately return to normal.

It will take a period of time to accumulate the required tonnage over each track in order to allow the track to settle fully (and may require additional courses of ballast and tamping) before the speeds can be increased. This could take days, or it could take weeks.

Then there's the fact that it is still an active construction area, and they may require lower speeds through the area due to that.

(And let's not forget, of course, the PSO on track one.....)
