The figure is 7% in Toronto. This also raises the question, seeing that there is a very large discrepancy between tax rates, with the education tax being ~x7 and the city portion being ~x3.5, should the portion of the home used as a workplace be taxed as commercial? In the interest of fairness I say absolutely! Even if taxed as commercial it would benefit form escaping capital gains tax.
