Why would they stick those ugly exhaust pipes out the top like that?

Hopefully they're temporary. It would wreck the roofline if they left them like that

I'm not sure they can hide those exhaust stacks. By code, vertical stacks needs to extend a minimum distance above the roofline or the nearest wall or parapet within a specified radius. I suspect they may put up a screen to hide the line of sight from most angles.

Those things just popped out of nowhere. They certainly weren't on any of the renderings. They have to do something to hide them.
