PIC Core Urban Design Guidelines virtual Open House: September 22, 2020 @ 6:30 pm
The City, in partnership with Waterfront Toronto and assistance from DTAH, has been advancing the Production, Creative and Interactive (PIC) Core Urban Design Guidelines Study, I appreciate the interest, discussion, and resulting input into the overall direction the Guidelines over the last 12 months. Unfortunately the PIC Core Urban Design Guidelines public engagement process was delayed due to the COVID-19 crisis, with the in-person March 26th, 2020 Public Open House cancelled.
The PIC Core Urban Design Guidelines Open House, which was to be held in March 2020, has been rescheduled for September 22, 2020 as a virtual on-line event. This community consultation event will provide an opportunity for the community to learn about the guidelines approach and encourage public input into the guidelines direction. The public consultation presentation materials will be similar to the presentation materials that the project team presented to the Waterfront Design Review Panel on June 24, 2020.
Meeting Details:
The City is holding a Community Consultation meeting to present an update on the PIC Core Urban Design Guidelines Study and provide an opportunity the public to ask questions and share your comments. The presentation materials, a video of the presentation and an on-line questionnaire will be available on the project website after the September 22, 2020 virtual Open House meeting.

Crews were installing jersey barriers down the middle of Cherry St today between the ship channel & Commissioners St, blocking the east side off to traffic.

The excavation is right up to the fence line so, presumably, the excavation of the east half of Cherry is about to begin; as the bike trail will presumably need to be on the road while this is happening it will not be so nice cycling to/from Cherry Beach and going to or coming from further east. Not sure there is much of an alternative.

You are correct - the signs show that bike & cars share the road now 
Cherry St was already the least pleasant part of my bike ride - what with all the noise of work being carried out, the abundance of truck traffic and the occasional spray of water. I could see a lot of bikers using the sidewalk on the west side instead as there is very little foot traffic on Cherry St.

Interesting. Most of last year I was working on a Netflix show at Pinewood. A bunch of us would walk down to the end of Basin Street after lunch, just to stretch our legs. Lots of land there that's decidedly under-used. Putting more film and television production facilities in there is a great idea. That will really bolster the east end.... big new facilities on Unwin at Cherry, plus Pinewood and now this development, plus an expanded Showline at Lake Shore east of Carlaw.... impressive. Really hope it comes to fruition.
