Very little has been done to The Don Roadway at the Lake Shore as well from there to Commissioner St. The Lake Shore Blvd E is a mix bag with sections completed for the westbound lanes, Path and cycling trails on both sides of the road. Trees added to the centre of the road east of The Don Roadway.

What I can see for the new westbound road bridge over the Don that all the pier supports are in place as well for Path/Walkway/Cycles Trails. The DVP and the Don Roadway cannot connect to the new Lake Shore correctly until the westbound bridge is in place. 2026 completion date for everything at this time.

Looks like they've finally dug out all the earth from between all those supports and now there's an actual river flowing underneath the entire section.

Seems pretty wide, like it could accommodate nearly 8 lanes of traffic.

Or maybe one lane in each direction, some bike lanes, CaféTO seating, and some more traffic calming measures.

Actually... it's too bad they're putting a road across here at all. It should have just been a book festival.

I propose one of the following names for this bridge when complete:

Miskwaabikong Bridge

Waawaashkeshi Zaaga'igan Bridge

Akiwensagong Bridge

Nigig Minising Bridge

Ziinzibaakwad Gchi-mitigong Bridge

Nibiishens Zaaga'amikanaang Bridge

I think the intent was to have an on and off ramp for the Gardiner on Lake Shore right near that bridge, which could explain the extra lanes and wider bridge. That was info I remember from a very long time ago, so it may have changed since then.

I would not be surprised if we see bike lanes across the bridge as well.

Assuming those are actual Anishinaabe based names and you didn't just run those through ChatGPT for the troll high fives here, they would sound really neat.
 
^Thanks as always! I noticed the reference to a maintenance/works yard in the South Park for the first time. Great news as I would guess that the Booth Street complex is going to be available.
