The poor little red brick condo has been surrounded and dwarfed!

Back in the 90s, I lived across the street next to the old RCMP building. That building, and the RCMP Headquarters, were the tallest in the entire area. Today it's primarily a residence for Ryerson students. Once The Grand Hotel is redeveloped and the northwest corner of Dundas and Jarvis built out, it will really exist amidst giants. The entire East Side is undergoing massive growth.

Has anyone gotten an update about construction from the builder? Are they still on hold?

That massive concrete barnacle on the top presumably encloses the largest mass damper in city history... a bit excessive for a 36s building.

Or perhaps it's a safe room that can accommodate its entire resident population, even with enforced social-distancing edicts.
