Bird’s-eye views pair perfectly with @flonicky's always-eclectic boots-on-the-ground captures.

No pressure, @flonicky! 😄

A full week passed and no @flonicky pics here........it will be gone by the end of today I would think..

Great shots, @flonicky — you really captured the sombre mood of the final moments of demolition for this beautiful old building.

I’ve been through those front doors countless times myself (including being born there).

I'm with @Towered and @GenerationLee, it’s sad to see it go — but as @PL1 pointed out, and I’m sure we all agree, out of respect for the many dedicated healthcare professionals who work there, it had long since outlived its ability to function properly.

I’ll try to add a final aerial later today if the rain lets up.

Edit - got the chance to do a quick flight

I wasn't particularly attached to this building but I miss the quirkiness of old hospitals like this one and Riverdale. The big glass boxes are shiny and slick but they don't have any character. And the drab lawn they have planned for this space is kind of redundant because there's one of those across the street at the Civic Centre.

Though I too like the 'look' of older hospitals, if I were sick I would much rather be in a newly built one!

There will be some landscaping.....but remember, the vacant/landscaped area is probably the site of the next replacement building.

Probably the replacement of the concrete bunker with a new research tower, or alternatively the ER and associated functions move over with additional medical/research functions, then the landscaping moves to where those buildings are now.
