This makes for a much more vibrant streetscape than a stubby halfhearted 3 story podium with a 50 story tower set back from the street.

Of course, Honest Eds was irreplaceable but the alternative could have been something awful like the 20 Maitland proposal.

Anybody can confirm they will use different colour window systems/frames depending on the brick finishes colours?

Or is there a chance we may get some sort of grey across the board. The renderings seem to be purposely noncommittal.

That stretch of Bloor West isn't wide enough for 2 lanes of traffic, 2 sidewalks, 2 bike lanes, plus on street parking. Eventually that on street parking will have be eliminated for wider sidewalks. Even then, the sidewalks are going to be a little stingy.

I'm obsessed with the fact they've used different textures and styles at the pedestrian level. More large developments in the city should take queues from this project in how to keep the pedestrian realm interesting. It is far better than an extended pattern or form that extends full blocks.

And also way better than a flat expanse of curtain wall glazing, which ruins a lot of otherwise competent designs.
