We lived in the Annex for years, and despite being downtown next to the subway station, we drove to get groceries every time we needed to do a real grocery trip (the Metro is fine to pick up a few things, but not for an actual stock-up). Now, living in St. Lawrence, we haven't driven for groceries since we moved, and the quality of life upgrade in that respect is huge.
