So the above 6-storey addition is just the first part of a half-billion dollar renewal of the hospital, another portion of which was just announced. We've got a front page story on that, a beautifully designed new wellness gallery and courtyard to be filled with Sorel Etrog works. BBB Architects are doing the space. Every hospital should have such a gorgeous room as is proposed here.

Companies prequalified for Mount Sinai Hospital redevelopment project
TORONTO, Jan. 13, 2016 /CNW/ - Infrastructure Ontario (IO) and Sinai Health System prequalified four companies to build and finance Sinai Health System's redevelopment project at Mount Sinai Hospital.

Based on a request for qualifications process that began in August 2015, the following companies were prequalified:

  • Bondfield Construction Company Ltd.
  • EllisDon Capital Inc.
  • PCL Constructors Canada Inc.
  • Walsh Canada
The project is a large-scale renovation of several key areas of Mount Sinai Hospital, and includes:

  • redevelopment of the Critical Care Unit
  • expansion and redesign of the Emergency Department
  • expansion and redesign of Operating Rooms and Surgical Services
  • increased Medical/Surgery Inpatient capacity
  • redesign of some of the Ambulatory Care areas
  • redevelopment of a full-service, in-house Medical Devices Reprocessing Department
As part of an ongoing fair, open and transparent procurement process, the prequalified companies will be invited to respond to a request for proposals, which is expected to be issued in spring 2016.

IO and the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care are working with Sinai Health System to redevelop the Mount Sinai Hospital facility, which will be publicly owned, controlled and accountable.
 
I'm sure IO will choose Bondfield for the project, since the government seemingly loves having their projects delayed to no end. And i'm sure Bondfield wouldn't mind either since they can get away with it every time.
