I know some are still peeved about the seeming mundaneness of the building compared to other North American court houses, but the location really isn't that prominent to warrant it. I'm just happy it covers the ugly Metropolitan/DoubleTree Hotel for postcard shots of City Hall.

Really? It's kitty corner from one of the city's most prominent public spaces and architectural landmarks. It'll be visible in numerous photos taken from Nathan Phillips Square and in the media. It's not that the location isn't prominent, it's that the location to the northwest of City Hall has been filled with rather generic and unforgettable projects to date.
This uninspired pattern of development has eroded the sense of place in the blocks to the northwest of Nathan Phillips Square into a generic downtown urban fabric of cookie-cutter towers and utilitarian pavements. Hopefully, this building will start to turn the tide and revitalize those blocks.
