Huh. Pinstripes are back. Or retro?

It is certainly moving along, the Hyatt website still says "Opening early 2021" which looks reasonable.

I can't say I'm sold on this.

Not that what it replaced was anything to get excited about it.

But it feels really bulky to me.

I rather dislike that it's not inset a bit relative to the heritage property,

It also neither aligns w/the 2nd floor in the heritage property nor does it start above it either.......

^^^ Well, the top of the new addition aligns with the top of the stone portion of the heritage property. A couple of other datum lines match up too. Also, the heaviness may diminish when all the bits and pieces are in place and the thing is lit up from within and without.

Too many clashing styles. I feel like they should have gone for a faux-heritage look like the Hazelton Hotel around the corner.

^^^ Faux heritage never works unless it's budget-busting, Robert A. M. Stern faux heritage. I'd say the Hazelton Hotel is more restrained Post-Modernism than Faux Heritage.

Putting aside the clashing styles...to my understanding the heritiage portion is the original building, so there is nothing really faux about it. It's more of a reno job with the previous additions mostly redesigned, for right or wrong.

The ground floor is too short. Feels like a black cloud on your head.
