Toronto District School Board has already put a sign up on the building warning people they might not get a spot in the neighbourhood for their kids and may have to send them to another district.
For those who have the means, there's always U of T Schools.

For those who don't, you should know that real estate in that part of Toronto is among the priciest in the continent (Rosedale School for the Arts is a good alternative (and it's a magnet school run by the TDSB), but that requires good grades and artistic talent).

Are they planning on doing anything to the exterior of the northern portion of the building? It looks completely vacant with stuff taped up in all of the windows.
Nope, no changes to the exterior or the north building (other than around street level), just a complete overhaul of the interior.

Looking at the north face of the new elevator core here, I'm interested to see how they finish it; it's not an easy design task to make it look not-terrible and tacked-on to a fairly attractive older structure.

Haven't had a chance to check the plans, but from this rendering in the database, it looks to me like they're envisioning some kind of combination of stone-and-metal combination (?), which could be nice:

Plans show a multi-folded bronze-colored solid aluminum panel system with uplighting.

Goes from ground through the entire interior including the fitness centre, ballroom, which could look good. The north brick was awful so will definitely be a major upgrade.
