Sadly there are a number of contenders. This is horrific. Thrn you have the crap just a few blocks south on Mercer. With all things considered, this is the worst turnout I've seen in a condo development since Velocity at the Square.
Adding insult to injury photographically!
Likewise, 401 Bay would get a UT architectural Razzie for Worst Exterior Renovation. There should be a UT forum version of the Razzie awards.
I'd probably have to put Design Haus higher up on my ballot than this one, but this one's monstrous spandrel wall defacing the heritage house's context for the long term future might put it over the top.
Maybe we need a special category? Most Catastrophically Depressing Defacement of Surrounding Context? Design Haus should get a special award for the absurd insult of its name. You can only laugh.
Oh come on now. You guys are total whingers. Watching this b***ching for months gets tiring. Imagine putting all your negative energy into something more productive for yourself. This building doesn't look that bad. It looks OK. At least it's an attempt to do something unique. At the end of the day, it's the internals that matter, which seem to be on track.
But yes, hopefully they'll fix up the very sloppy work done on the redbrick which has concrete drip over it in many spots. Presumably they do that toward the end once all the core building is complete? Tidy up the sloppy brick casts? (Graywood and co, hope you are listening)
If you bought here on the first day of presales, you avged in at around 900 psqft. At peak selling for 1400-1600 psqft. Even with a pull back in Canadian real estate this year, which seems inevitable given rate sentiment and actual rate hikes to come in, and prices do drop say 20%, initial buyers are still going to be comfortably in the money (and apparently it did sell out), so anyone who didn't buy in recently on assignment has done very well on this one, like most precon sales done in 2014-2017 that are about to complete within the next 1-2 years.
PS thank you to those posting photos with updates; There are many of us that appreciate it.
Let's not defame people. As I pointed out before, the vast majority of Toronto RE investors are domestic. We get it. You’re a foreign investor with not a care for the city itself, just your own investments and margins.
