Saw this from the durham transit executive.... Are we starting to see shovels in the ground for this soon?View attachment 568230
Yeah I know tower 1 is expected to start this summer (tower 2 may start as well too) but this detour is mainly for the relocation of the sewage/water drainage system to glenanna road, that’s currently under the parking lots at PCC. Once they’re moved, it will allow for tower 3 and 4 to proceed with construction once they go for sale, if my memory serves me right.

Off topic but hopefully with all this development, the future plan includes a new bus terminal (similar to York mills Go/TTC bus terminal) at Pickering parkway. With a direct connection to the mall and go pedestrian bridge, where commuter don’t have to step a foot outside. It just makes sense. With office space above.

Ill have to dig, but it seems to me there was already talk of reconstructing Pickering parkway terminal....i don't think it was to be enclosed but I can't recall of the top of my head.

Does anyone know what's happening at the site right now? I heard the city was still in the consultation phase for the park and Block 1 was supposed to start construction almost a year ago but it's been empty since and every time I come to PCC.

Got official confirmation and they also posted a video on Instagram that construction on Towers 1 and 2 will start September 2025 with occupancy in Q1 of 2028.

Site looks the same as it has since they tore down Sears plus a few soil sample barrels lol. But speculation is they start construction Sept 2025.
You’re correct - Pickering is still consulting with the public about the new park space.

📌Notice of Noise Exemption📌 The City has granted a Noise Exemption under By-law No. 8048/23 for construction activities at 1355 Kingston Road.

From September 2 to December 2🔽

🗓️Monday - Friday from 7 am to 9 pm
🗓️Saturday from 8 am - 9 pm
🚫Work not permitted on Sundays

The contractor has established noise mitigation measures to limit excessive construction noise during the permitted hours.

The construction is part of CentreCourt's preliminary work for the development of a 55-acre mixed-use community on the existing mall site and surrounding lands. This redevelopment will introduce substantial residential, retail, commercial, and public spaces, alongside a reinvigorated shopping mall.

As part of the broader mall redevelopment, CentreCourt has conveyed 1.42 acres of parkland to support the construction of City Centre Park.

Visit LetsTalkPickering.ca/CityCentre to learn more and get involved.

Official notices are now out to the public as posted on the city's dedicated site. They are also are going to use the mall parking lot for traffic detour for busses.

EDIT: I will also note some sites that will track block 1 and civil side construction:
